The importance of POSTURE.
Studies have shown that standing like a superhero for 2 minutes alters your hormone production, making you feel more powerful. Seriously. I’ve put a link to an article below in case you don’t believe me.
Last night I was chatting to my students about how yoga has helped my posture over the years. It reminded me of a scene in the TV programme, Grey’s Anatomy. A surgeon adopts a superhero stance like this before going in to do a difficult surgical procedure. It amused me so I googled it and it’s really a thing.
Worried about a presentation at work? Job interview coming up? Dreading that tricky conversation? Stand like a hero for 2 minutes. Legs apart, chest forward, hands on hips. Take up lots of space. You should experience an increase in testosterone and a decrease in cortisol (a hormone associated with stress).
The worst that happens is that you feel silly for two minutes and it has no effect. The best that happens is that you go in there and kick butt.
