What is it that stops you booking a yoga class?
If you are simply not interested in yoga then OK…you should probably stop reading this now. However, if you’re on my blog I’m going to assume that you are a tiny bit curious!
Here are the main reasons I hear for not trying a class (and why you don’t need to worry) -
“I am struggling with illness or injury”
Most of us are struggling with something in our bodies, every yoga class offers options within a pose to make it easier or harder. When the Hollistic studio opens it will accommodate a maximum of 6 clients at a time. So each client gets plenty of attention and we can find a way of working that suits your body and works around any injuries.
“I’m too stiff” or “I’m not bendy”
Yoga teachers hear this a lot. However this is exactly why you need to go to class! You don’t avoid Spanish lessons because you can’t speak Spanish! You are coming to learn and build your flexibility, strength and balance. We will start working from wherever you are now.
“I won’t know what to do”
Poses are broken down with lots of cues to help you get all your limbs in the right place and if you’re not sure….ask!
“I might get emotional”
If you are going through a difficult time, yoga can maybe help. It is extremely common for people to become a bit emotional especially during Savasana or a yin/restorative practice. This a good thing! It’s healthy to let these emotions out. I am always ready with tissues and a hug so if you need a cry…go for it!
“I don’t have the right equipment”
Hollistic supplies all the props and mats you could possible need. Just bring yourself.
“I don’t look like the people on Instagram”
Neither do I. I’m not 21 and can’t wrap my leg around my neck. So nothing to worry about there.
“I might fart in the middle of the class”
Guess what? It happens all the time. Everybody breaks wind sometimes. Even the Queen (apparently). It won’t bother me, so don’t let it stop you!
The class timetable for our brand new studio in Livingston will be published soon.
