Reiki with Restorative Yoga


What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle Japanese healing technique. Hands are placed on or directly above the body to channel energy into the body. This energy is known as “chi” or “prana”.

Reiki brings balance, allowing the body to heal itself more effectively.

Clients describe feeling heat or tingling during a reiki session. It is a deeply relaxing treatment which can reduce stress and improve sleep.

Reiki is usually done on a treatment table but I like to combine it with restorative yoga poses.

What is Restorative Yoga?

Restorative yoga was originally designed for yogis who were ill or injured. However it quickly became apparent that everyone can benefit from it.

The poses are passive, props are used to support the practitioner and they are held for longer periods of time usually around ten minute each.

Who is it for?

This is a unique, lovely treatment which can be enjoyed by anyone. You don’t need any yoga knowledge or experience. It is ideal for anyone who suffers with anxiety or depression or maybe life is just a bit crazy and you’d like to slow down.

Note that at times this treatment is “hands-on”. Touch is gentle and non-invasive.

Yoga with Reiki for me was like Savasana but deeper. Having had Reiki with Ruth previously I knew what to expect to some extent, but being in several supported yoga poses made a huge difference for me. I felt I was more free, more connected and calm. Having Ruth practice Reiki on me while I was in each supported pose allowed me to fully let go, to relax and it did feel like I was actually in a mediative state which I have previously struggled with. My mind struggles to switch off, but for the whole session I did, and I felt energy coming from the crown of my head, hands and soles of my feet in the form of gold and navy sparks. This was something I’ve never experienced, but it was such calming experience I never wanted it to end. I left the session feeling rejuvenated and calm and can hand on heart recommend Yoga and Reiki with Ruth.
